Approach

A few of you may know that my novel was roughly going to be about a blacksmith with mental health issues
Now im not sure whether to keep it has a straight historical fiction. May maybe employ a modern day character who has mental health who believes he is this blacksmith

i need opinions please
Thanks guys
Menja

edit: may just keep it as a straight historical novel tbh...
just cant decide on a story. i have my characters all figured out just with no story..

Forcing myself into writing

I have discovered the NANoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) via a friends post on Facebook.
The basic idea of it will be
"National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.
On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30."

Anyone interested you can check out https://nanowrimo.org

Ill be posted my progress and reports on how i do with the challenge as i go.

For now though, im going to keep researching into the 6th century BC time period where Northern europeans started making metal (bronze age); the time period i am setting my story

Watch this space :)

Beginnings

Hey everyone.Ive returned to the world of blogging with a WIP Ive been thinking of for a very long time. Just thought its about time i unleashed the beast.
My basic idea is a blacksmith in the period when we first used how to forge metals
He has developed a mental condition (PTSD) adding additional layer to his personality.

Ive had small ideas for more story but nothing fleshed out. Im basing it in Eastern Europe, around the Baltic's and intend on incorporating the mythology. This sets the overall idea of the world my blacksmith lives in.

Im not a writer, mainly through lack of trying so ive taken up a creative writing course to help me pen out a plot.
Ive come up with basic characters, but they dont have alot of depth to them yet

There is alot of place holder names. The reason for this is i have had ideas for them but as i said nothing is fleshed out. This is the beginning.
I kinda wanted to show Yngvar (placeholder name for my blacksmith)growing from a child to adult; as one idea. It depends on how i develop the story whether this will happen or his adventure will start as an adult.
The reason for a mother and adoptive mother according to my non fleshed out idea would've been Yngvar ran away from invaders, got lost and was taken in my another lady. Not too sure with this, prob too cliched, not enough to really go on but i did a basic sketch for characters i may incorporate into the story
These are two ideas i came up with for "visions" for lack of better word.

No sure how (or if)ill use them yet

Been looking at over all look that id like.
Love this mood (still from Bambi)
Dont know the artist was from a quick google search of wet on wet watercolor technique. I love the ambiguity of this and would love to have it in the distant background...
...while having the detail and graininess in the trees (artist Viktor vasnetsov)

So i think first steps are to practice a bit wth wet on wet watercolours and scan them in fom background. maybe draw the trees in midground and foreground in ink and layer them in photoshop.

Only decided on a style for environment really. ( i say decided i need to explore the idea)Id love to get some rough watercolour paper but its too expensive to just practice on.Id love if i coud get that grainy texture.

Im also unsure on how im going to approach the whole thing. I dont know whther to make it a animation (which im leaning more towards) a graphic novel (which im not sure how the approach im thinking of would work)I even thought of maybe a game but i cant programme for crap haha
Been thinking of maybe starting a patreon to help me while i make this but have no idea if this is something you'd patreon or what rewards to give i dunno

So i think
1)decide what the product is going to be
2)practise watercolour
3)start writing!!

Thats where im up to. any suggestions, tips or advice im listening

Tanks for checking in with me
Much love
